Hi All

You may have noticed the page http://www.lolnet.co.nz/stats.php

Currently we are looking for anyone that wants to help out with the project, this help can be in many forms, we need lots of ideas about things that we can record and cool statistics that we can generate that make playing on lolnet more fun! :D

If you have any of the following, we want your help to make lolnet more awesome:
:arrow: - Ideas about cool statistics
:arrow: - Ideas about things we should be recording
:arrow: - MySQL experience
:arrow: - Java experience

:!: Helping out with projects also gets your name on projects and working with staff so you are more likely to get that staff position in the future :p

# If your interested in helping out, either reply here or PM me and I'll get you setup with a lolnet Projects account. #

Enable PM on the forums.

If you could possibly find someone with php/php3 experience it would be nice, then i could have the website finished in three days as soon as my exams are over(end next week).

Tips;

Record, Community feedback.
I know Feast has a list of things that should be implemented; and or thought on.

Game Theory, the fundamental core of game design; is what we call a "Feedback loop" currently Lolnet has either weak feedback loops or none, depending which worlds you are in. A great example of a current feedback loop is Skyblock, although its popularity died down.

You collect --> completed challenge related to collected items-->> positive reward. -->> Progress to next set if completed the first, that is an example of a feedback loop.

In terms of WW, Hardcore there no feedback loops, therefore loss of interest.
Pluto, has somewhat of a feedback loop, you

mine->build->harvest->sell->profit->purchase.

But not the strongest, similar to what farmville consists of.

i'd have to think on ideas, but I thought explaining the core fundamental of Game Design would just help show why; the lack of interest, and/or dying interest in some of the current worlds/game modes.

Two other major points in Game Design:

-Shared Experience.
-Challenge

These two go hand in hand. Without a challenge players become bored in a "everybody wins" situation. Challenges in games are something a player has to overcome. Reward can be as simple as having accomplished something before the next guy.

But to have it mean anything, there has to be the shared experience. Everyone in the same world, or doing the same thing. Bragging rights, competition, community, sense of being part of something, all sort of mingled together.

As far as contribution, i have no programming skills. Do have a a masters in Statistics and know a lot about people that play games, running my own game stores for 25 years.

Kiaora :)

Keen as to work on the lolnetStatistics, I have huge experience with PHP/MySQL and a bit of C# too plus other languages.

I'm interested in building an API for lolnet statistics as I am currently in the process of building an Android application for lolnet.

I built my own little API for lolnet stats which can be viewed here,
--> http://static.liamcottle.com/minecraft/lolnet.php

This API is NOT reliable at all, as it is scraping the values from the stats.php page on lolnet.

Hence, sometimes the values returned in the JSON may be "ERROR", this is because for some reason when chopping up received HTML from stats.php something may be different in the HTML... etc etc

The player count at the end of JSON IS LIVE, as it queries the lolnet server when requested...

But... Obviously we would need to build a proper API for it to be reliable :)
My API was just a test so I could start the Android App!

If you need some help with coding, send me a PM.
