Loaded Chunk distance

This is probably for Cptwin to answer.

I have a machine built that requires 2 separate buildings a number of chunks apart. Now by default 128 blocks from where you are standing is unloaded by the game. However I have fond that one of my buildings only 60 blocks away unloads when I am standing in the other one.

So my question is has the default been changed for this server and if so what is the loaded chunk size set to?

The server only loads 3 chunks view distance in server properties - Thats 3 chunks only, not a radiums of 3.

Wow that is small. Basically means my machine will never work......wish i had known that before spending 130k and 2 weeks farming and build to make it.

From minecraft wiki...

"In multiplayer mode, a grid with a default radius of 10 (for a total of 21x21 or 441) chunks is loaded around each player and sent to the player by default, although this radius can be configured to be between 3 and 15, usually only lowered with a poor connection home server".

So as 0zlw commented above that on our server it was 3, i did some testing. And found that it is in fact a 3 chunk radius from the chunk you are standing in, so a total of 7 chunks x 7 chunks. As you can see from above the default is 10 and the max is 15.

So what's the issue you might ask how does this affect me???

Well if you just farm and stuff it wont affect you much at all. But if you are interested in building some of the epic machines that are now possible with the use of new items it becomes a huge issue. For instance i have a machine that has 2 buildings that must be 60 blocks apart, (that's 3.75 chunks) and then each building is over 1 chunk wide. So i have a machine that is 115 blocks or 7.18 chunks wide. This means that with the current limit even if i stand exactly in the middle i cant have the whole machine loaded at once...so it does not work.

And this is not the biggest machine I would like to build, its just the first to help me pay for the materials to build bigger ones.

So I would like to ask the server admins is there any chance this limit can be increased or would that simply put this server under too much load?

Curently this is not possible based on the specs we have for the vanilla server however myself and cptwin are always looking for ways things can be improved and our current project will hopefully address this issue soon
