Firefox or Chrome?

Hi all! I'm not posting this to start some post-war, it's a genuine question.

Firefox has recently updated and it's super fast (like, SUPER fast), and I'm well-aware of Chrome's flaws (primarily, the fact that it eats memory). I really want to switch but I'm so involved in the Google Chrome environment that I'm not sure if it would be worth the switch.

I'm just looking for general thoughts and feedback on the matter. To give you an idea of how 'involved' I am with the Chrome environment, I've been using it 2011. So, 6 years worth of data is how involved I am.

I've been using a new contender called Vivaldi https://vivaldi.com/?lang=en

Its based on Chrome and is plenty fast enough for me. It has better thread management IMO, and doesn't use a separate thread for every tab, but depends on how 'heavy' the tab is. So if your running a tab with a page like facebook, it usually ends up with its own thread due to facebook being a complex 'heavy' site.
Another Plus is that since this is based on chrome its compatible with Chromes store and 90% of chrome's plugins will also work with vivaldi

Not sure if its as fast as firefox's new version, but I'm not so concerned with browser speed anymore, instead efficiency and memory management are my intrests :)

Personally, I still use chrome. I'm much like yourself; I'm way to involved with the chrome environment especially regarding Google drive and those features which aren't as good on Firefox.

Its just a pain coming home to see it's using 6 gigs of memory for a 40 minute video I accidentally left paused haha.

I don't really plan on switching any time soon, unless Firefox becomes more Google friendly

Hello,

Just to join in a bit late (sorry), I am a user of Firefox (I use the Developer Edition). I find it has neater developer tools than Chrome, and this suites me as I find web development interesting, and also mess with html, css, java and PHP every now and then.

I suppose if you are into the development side of things, Firefox may be an option to consider.

Thanks.

Hmmmm, I haven't really check out the dev version of Firefox. I might give it a try as I also do web development.

Even if I use it purely for web dev it might be a better tool than chrome.

It's actually a really neat browser and I do use it for everything, and don't restrict it to development. Worth a look if anything. :)

bit of a bump,

I use firefox, I have since well ever, tried chrome and whilst it is nice the small catch of "goolge may sell your browsing data" through me off.

unfortunatly some plugins like moonlight gamestream are chrome only.
