Hey guys

Welcome to my first post on a new project and trying to bring something different to our freindly forums

I have just started the planning faze for the build (though the build itself has been in discussion for about 1 month for the lucky person who will own the beast we are about to build) we have finalized most of the parts and have purchased some things that are having some extra work done to them.

Over the next month I will try and post as many pics and posible some vids of the build as it progresses and try and explain what I am doing/how to do some of the mods for yourself

And at the end we will benchmark the PC and see how it performs

So later today I will get a parts list up and we will go from there

ok so the parts list

i will go through the parts and give some reasoning as to why they were chosen

CASE

so first of cant do an awesome build with out a solid platform to build on which is why i have chosen a CORSAIR OBSIDIAN SERIES 750D FULL TOWER CASE this case is new to the market and meets some of the requirements i was looking for in a case the first being that it has a full window (not to many cases have full windows), it can fit a radiator inside the case, it has plenty of room for an extra graphics card should the need arise, and it has a nice clean finish to the outside of the case (saying this the inside will be getting a bit of a custom paint job.

POWER SUPPLY

the work horse this needed to be reliable and have enough wattage to cover that extra graphics card should the system ever want to be upgraded for this i chose the CORSAIR HX SERIES HX850 V2 850W MODULAR POWER SUPPLY 80PLUS GOLD. This power supply is reliable and has the wattage to cover an extra graphics card down the line it is also fully modular so no unnecessary cables to clutter up the case planed mods for the power supply include a full individual cable re sleeve with orange and black with a 3 to 1 ratio (3 orange cords for every black 1)

MOTHER BOARD

for this i chose a reliable brand with an easy to use bios for when we do the overclocking (the colors on the board may have had more of an influence than anything ) GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-OC INTEL Z87 ATX HASWELL LGA1150

CPU

INTEL HASWELL CORE I7 4770K 3.50GHZ 8MB LGA1150
this speaks for its self the best CPU for the current socket that has the ability to be overclocked (we are aiming for a clock speed of 5GHZ +)

RAM

we want to be able to upgrade later so 2 8gb sticks were in order MUSHKIN BLACKLINE FROSTBYTE 16GB (2X8GB) DDR3-1600 also plan to try and remove the heat sinks and paint them

HARD DRIVES

SSD

First off we want something fast so I opted for a SAMSUNG 840 SERIES 120GB SATA3 SSD but i want it faster than that so i will get 2 and put them in raid 0
sub 20 sec boot time here i come

SATA

just wanted a slandered 2tb drive here so the WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIAR GREEN WD20EZRX 2TB 64MB CACHE SATA3 fits

WATER COOLING

we are looking at ekwb gear some specifics still need to be worked out

EXTRAS

this section will get all the little extras added into it things that may not be considered part of the build but are required to finish the project

gear has started arriving have dismantlement the case and started sanding ready for the first coat of primer power supply and sleeving have arrived

hey guys just a quick update case has been painted when i can find my rivet gun will put it back together have started sleeving cables today

and have had all the hardware together to test it and all is working fine will move on to installing water blocks and more sleeving over the weekend

So sleeving is all done on the psu will get some pics up later today

Have mounted the CPU and Gpu water blocks and then went to install the radiator and relised I hadn't allowed for the fans so now I can't mount it in the top going to have to have a rethink

Still wating for the resoviuor to turn up and then can finish up
