Automatic wheat/potato/carrot farming???

Was just wondering if there was any way to build an automatic crop farm?

I know it's possible to build one that harvests the crops automatically, but I'm just wondering if there was a way to re-plant the seeds automatically as well? I honestly have no idea.

Anybody got any suggestions?

its probably stupid and impractical...but you could have dispensers or whatever they're called to automatically plant the seeds...

like have them on top...or next to a single row

To the best of my knowledge, no, they don't. The only 2 100% automatic farms that I know of are cactus and sugar cane. I have built one of each in survival, and I would be happy to show them to you if you wish.

Yes you can at 1.8.0 update, You need is a:
Villager Farmer
Nearby Chest
Crop
The Villager Farmer will just harvest and replant all seed/potato/carrot etc he sees.

im pretty sure that you can put a dispenser next to ploughed land, and it will plant a seed...i saw it in like a 1.6 update or something. You can also hoe the ground with a hoe inside a dispenser, and bone meal stuff...i think...might be wrong...

Elisha_Day's idea with the dispensers does not work I'm pretty sure. But u can fill the dispensers up with bonemeal to quickly grown them to make a fast and efficient farm.
